The project has four principal investigators equally divided between Finland and the US.

Beatriz Lorenzo (University of Massachusetts, Amherst)

Beatriz Lorenzo is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the Network Science Lab, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA. Her latest book Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Computing for Advanced Wireless Networks (Wiley, 2022), covers the enabling technologies for the definition, design, and analysis of incoming 6G/7G systems. Her research interests include AI for wireless networks, B5G and 6G network architectures and protocol design, mobile computing, optimization, and network economics. Dr. Lorenzo was the recipient of the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Fellowship with the University of Florida from 2016 to 2017. She is also an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology. She was the General Co-Chair for WiMob Conference in 2019 and serves regularly in the TPC of top IEEE/ACM conferences.

Bing Liu (University of Illinois, Chicago)

Bing Liu is a Distinguished Professor of computer science with the University of Illinois at Chicago, Chicago, IL, USA. He has authored or coauthored extensively in top conferences and journals, and authored four books: one about lifelong learning, two about sentiment analysis, and one about web mining. His research interests include lifelong and continual learning, sentiment analysis, lifelong learning chat bots, open-world AI/learning, natural language processing, and data mining and machine learning. From 2013 to 2017, he was the Chair of ACM SIGKDD, Program Chair of many leading data mining conferences. He is a Fellow of the ACM and AAAI.

Mario Di Francesco (Aalto University)

Mario Di Francesco is a Full Professor with the Department of Computer Science, Aalto University, Finland. His current research interests include IoT, pervasive computing, mobile networking, and performance evaluation. He was a recipient of the Best Paper Award at the UbiComp Conference in 2014, and the International Conference on IoT in 2015. He is an Area Editor of the Pervasive and Mobile Computing. He was the Co-Chair of the Third IEEE Workshop on the IoT: Smart Objects and Services in 2014.

Sumudu Samarakoon (University of Oulu)

Sumudu Samarakoon is an Assistant Professor with the Intelligent Connectivity and Networks/Systems Group, Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC)-Radio Technologies Unit since late 2021. His research focus is on the confluence of wireless communication and machine learning technologies in terms of enabling edge intelligence for various control and communication applications. He received the Best Paper Award at the European Wireless Conference and the Excellence Award for Innovators and the Outstanding Doctoral Student in the Radio Technology Unit, CWC, University of Oulu in 2016. He was a Guest Editor of Telecom (MDPI) Special Issue on Millimeter Wave Communications and Networking in 5G and Beyond.
